Juno Bait's "Weekend Fishing Outlook"

For Weekend of 12/13-12/15/25

OFFSHORE- Fishing has been fairly decent offshore this week: Unfortunately it looks like the weather is going to keep everybody at the dock headed into the weekend. Sailfish action has been good; with most boats getting at least a few chances and double digit chances not out of the question. Live baits (Goggle Eyes or small Blue Runners) under the kite are the way to go for the sails. Best depth on the sails has bounced around; with 150-250' generally being a pretty safe bet. A handful of dolphin mixed in with the sailfish in the same depth. Blackfin tuna action has been good as well, especially up to the north. Bottom fishing reports have been a bit slow, with a handful of mutton snapper being caught.

INSHORE- Only a few days left before snook season closes for the winter. Snook fishing has been decent this week; however cooler weather will no doubt slow the bite down. During the day look for the snook to be laid up on dark mud bottom. At night the snook are on the bridges; and are quickly switching to a largely shrimp based diet. Outgoing tide tends to be the best bet for the snook. The snook have also been hanging around docklights, along with scattered tarpon as well as. Sheepshead action has started to improve inshore. Live shrimp is a solid choice for the sheepshead. Bridges and boat dock pilings with heavy barnacle growth is a great place to look for the sheepshead.

SURF/PIER- A little slower fishing along the beach this week. A few scattered pompano around, but no big catches. Spanish Mackerel action has started to get good in Peck's Lake (though it will be. washout this weekend). Jacks have been cruising the beach in decent numbers. Most of the jacks have been on the smaller side; with a few bigger ones in the mix. Blacktip sharks have been around in good numbers. A fresh chunk of bait won't go unnoticed long by a passing shark. Has been a fair number of croaker around as well.

NOAA MARINE WEATHER:
FRI...NE winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 5 to 8 ft, occasionally to 10 ft. Wave Detail: NE 8 ft at 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters rough in exposed areas.

SAT THROUGH SUN...NE winds 25 to 30 kt. Seas 7 to 10 ft, occasionally to 13 ft. Wave Detail: E 9 ft at 7 seconds and NW 3 ft at 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters very rough in exposed areas. A chance of showers.
