Juno Bait's "Weekend Fishing Outlook"

For Weekend of 10/21-10/23/2022

OFFSHORE-  Going to be a bit sporty offshore this weekend; but that north wind will likely fire up the sailfish bite.  Ideal conditions to get the kites out and look for the sails tailing down the waves.  With varying water conditions its hard to say what will be the prime depth; but if we get a well defined blue/green edge in 150-250' that will be the place to start.  If the dirty green water is further offshore (Hopefully the east wind pushes the blue water in) don't be afraid to set up a little deeper.  Expect a fair number of dolphin, including some bigger ones, to be in the same areas as the sails.  A few wahoo were caught early in the week on the backside of the moon.  A split tail mullet or big bonita strip behind a planer is the way to go for the wahoo right now.  Bottom fishing was fair this week, including some good fishing for Vermillion Snapper in 180-250' with slower current early in the week.  

INSHORE-  First cool front of the season slowed snook fishing down just a bit; but expect them to be back to biting good over the weekend.  Still a good number of finger mullet inshore, and the snook are keyed in on them (with that said...also starting to get bites on the shrimp jig as well!).  Mixed in with the snook have been a pretty good number of tarpon, a few bruiser jacks, and still a stray redfish or two.  As the mullet run does taper off and the weather cools down a bit, look for the sheepshead and black drum fishing to start to pick up inshore.  Also, a handful of Pompano reported in the ICW up north this week.  A small bright colored Doc's Goofy Jig is the way to go for the pompano.  

SURF/PIER- Pretty good mixed bag action along the beach this week.  Still some late season pods of mullet coming down the beach, with all the usual suspects around them.  Snook haven't totally left the beach, but they are beginning to thin out.  They are largely being replaced with good numbers of Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel.  Jacks and Ladyfish are also scattered along the beach in fair numbers.  Pompano reports were good this week, with the Juno Beach Pier having a few good days on the pomps.  A bright colored Doc's Goofy jig remains the top producer for the pompano.

FRI...N winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to around 25 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft along the coast and 4 to 6 ft, occasionally to 8 ft in the Gulf Stream. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. A slight chance of tstms in the morning. A chance of showers. A chance of tstms in the afternoon. .

SAT...N NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts to around 20 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Intracoastal waters light chop.

SUN...N NE winds around 10 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, occasionally to 5 ft. Intracoastal waters a light chop.
