OFFSHORE- Fishing was pretty decent this week for those that could make it out. Sailfish action picked up late in the week, with a couple of boats getting a half dozen plus shots. Best action on the sails seemed to be from the end of the (Singer Island) condos up to just north of the Juno Beach Pier. Best reports seemed to be in the usual 130-200ish range; with a bulk of the action coming in the afternoon. A few good dolphin in the mix; all pretty much in the same area as the sails. Live baits under the kite are the way to go for both the sails and the bigger dolphin. Trolling ballyhoo or bonita strips will also pick away at the dolphin. Bottom fishing reports slowed a bit (largely due to the weather), but still some good snapper and even a few grouper around.
INSHORE- Snook season is closed now, but still some decent catch and release action to be had. Snook are starting to settle into their wintertime feeding habits. The shrimp jig is getting bit well at night around the bridges on moving water (can be incoming or outgoing tide depending on location). During the day look for snook to be laid up on or near dark mud bottom. The darker bottom warms up quicker and holds heat longer. Sheepshead action inshore has started to pick up. Still haven't heard of any big schools of sheepshead in Palm Beach(Lake Worth) Inlet...but it's about time for them to show up. A few more fish starting to show up around Munyon Island with water temps beginning to drop.
SURF/PIER- Pompano action improved this week along the beach. Key to the pompano has been finding some good looking water. North of the Juno Beach Pier has been holding a few fish. The Juno Beach Pier saw some improved action later in the week. A handful of Spanish Mackerel and assorted bottom fish made a showing. Not red hot action, but a few fish for those putting in the time.
